Top 5 Uses For Your New Headshots

Have you ever read or listened to an expert in hopes of learning the secret that’s going to be the key to your success, only to realize, that you actually already know said information?

Of course, just having knowledge isn’t necessarily the answer, because you’re not in the habit of using or practicing it.

A lot of entrepreneurs “know” that they should be using fresh professional photos to increase their visibility and engagement. But knowing and doing are two different things. Some business owners don’t ever schedule a headshot or brand session, and/or don’t use the photos they already have.

If you have recent photos, but aren’t using them, below are some tips to get you started.

Top 5 Uses For Your New Headshots:

  1. The most obvious and easiest option is to use your new photographs to update all of your profiles. Social media profiles are a great start, but don’t forget about other web platforms you may frequent less, like your LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google listing, your about page on your website and the often overlooked - member listings for professional organizations you’re involved with. By updating all of your profiles, you may realize there is also other information that might need updating. You’re more likely to spend some time interacting with folks you follow, and of course a statistically proven result with new photos is an increase in engagement from your audience and/or colleagues.

  2. Printed materials such as business cards, advertisements and even billboards are a great way to promote yourself. When people recognize you, they’re more likely to engage with you because they recognize you.

  3. Email and newsletter signatures. Spruce up your basic email and newsletter signatures with your smiling face and direct marketing links.

  4. Post it! Put a face to your name, and introduce/reintroduce yourself on a social media post, blog, facebook group, chat room, etc. Celebrate a promotion or career change. Mark a milestone with a before and after. Let people know that your unique individual behind your brand, services and/or products.

  5. Get into the limelight! Submit the magazine article proposal, the bio and publicity release, the exhibition application with attached artist bio, etc. If you’ve got a great portrait and/or collection of brand photos, you’re more likely to get your story, article, message picked up by larger brands, publishers and/or news agencies.
